Shed house

Located within the Byron Hinterland on Widjabul Wia-bal Country, Bundjalung Nation, Porous House was designed to support multi-generational living within a regenerating rainforest landscape. Rather than a single building, the home is organised as a collection of interconnected pavilions linked by courtyards and open circulation spaces, allowing daily life to move fluidly between indoors and outdoors.

Delivering the project required careful coordination across a challenging hinterland site shaped by bushfire requirements, environmental considerations and the long-term regeneration objectives of the property.

The boundaries between building and landscape remain intentionally porous, allowing the house to participate in the ongoing life of the site rather than sit apart from it.
